Spanning 421,000 hectares in the northern Flinders Ranges, Witchelina Nature Reserve is one of Australia’s largest private conservation areas. From the shimmering expanse of Lake Torrens to the historic outback town of Marree, this vast landscape is a haven for nature lovers and adventurers.
Witchelina lies on the ancestral lands of the Kuyani Adnyamathanha and Arabana Peoples and is rich in culturally significant sites.
The nature reserve is home to a diverse range of fauna, including the Thick-billed Grasswren, Wedge-tailed Eagle, Spinifex Hopping Mouse, Stripe-faced Dunnart, and Plains Mouse. After rains, the desert landscapes burst into life with a spectacular display of native wildflowers.
Witchelina lies at the convergence of multiple land systems, offering a stunning variety of scenery including ancient rocky ranges and ridges; stony gibber plains, desert expanses, majestic red gum-lined creek beds, vegetated sand dunes and swales, and a variety of shrublands, grasslands, and woodlands.
